Mermaids

The earliest record of the merman is a deity known as EA, or Oannes in Greek. This merman was from Babylon and was thought to walk on the land by day, but would turn into a merman as he returned to the sea at night. The Greeks had mermen as well: they were also known as Tritons. China had mermaids that were believed to have healing powers.
